Sky pond is a lake located just 10.4 miles from estes park, in larimer county, in the state of colorado, united states, near meeker park, co. With its turquoise waters, impressive glaciers, and surrounding falls, sky pond and lake of glass is unlike anything we have ever seen before.

Sky pond offers great fishing for brook trout after the ice melts by july. Hundreds of lakes mapped, sorted by fish species and boating regulations & conditions reports. There are nice flat rocks at water's edge offering unobstructed views, a place to eat, and easy places to fish.
Fishing is catch and release here. From the glacier gorge trailhead, head southwest. If you see a lake name that is duplicated within larimer county, then try to narrow it down using the name of the usgs topo map which is usually a prominent place or city nearby.
Fishermen will find a variety of fish including cutthroat trout and others here. Climbers visit to climb the sharp peaks above, including the classic south face route. This was a bucket list hike for me because of the unique formations of the mountains at sky pond.
Jake wheeler sky pond is about as sweet as this apple tasted. The hike is 10 miles roundtrip and gains 1,650 feet from car to lake. After a little picnic in the shade of the trees along the lake, we continued the hike to sky pond.
